Do you love avocados like we do?
learn 20 fun ways to make avocado toast and more!
We can’t get enough of avocado toast! It’s a breakfast staple for us, not just because it’s easy to prepare, but also because there are so many ways to enjoy it.
True story, we dressed up as avocado toast for our kids fall festival we were the brown toast and they were the avocados!

We’ve jazzed it up countless ways, playing around with different combinations to find the perfect balance of flavors and textures. Below, we’re sharing our favorite variations, each with a little personal twist, to inspire your next breakfast.
This guide also includes some recipes and how we’ve enjoyed these creations over the years – the possibilities are endless!
Why Avocado Toast?
We’ve been making avocado toast for years, and it’s one of our favorite ways to fuel up in the mornings.
It’s quick—often less than five minutes to put together—and full of healthy fats, protein, and fiber to keep us going. It’s also versatile; we can make it fancy or keep it simple depending on the day.
Sometimes, we use Dave’s Killer Bread, which is one of our go-to brands because of its whole grains and nutrient-rich ingredients, and sometimes we opt for French bread or an Everything Bagel for a little extra oomph.
The Basics “Hippie Toast” 😝
Start with a good base. Our top choices:
What is the best bread to use for avocado toast?
• Dave’s Killer Bread: We often go for the thin-sliced version, which is perfect for an everyday light breakfast, or opt for the Everything Bagel when we want extra flavor.
• French Bread: A favorite for a crispier texture and a classic feel.
• English Muffin: Dave’s Killer Bread version adds whole grains to the mix.
Avocado Prep
What is the difference avocado toast and guacamole toast?
You can slice it or mash it; either works! For mashed avocado, add a pinch of salt and garlic powder (1/2 teaspoon for a whole avocado). Sliced avocado is with avocado sliced on and
guacamole is when it’s with mashed avocado.
We like both, and depending on your method it gives it a different taste!
What can I season the avocado with?
Anything! We love mixing it with different seasonings, nuts, or even vegan cheese. We love garlic seasoning, smoked seasoning, and nutritional yeast! Basically, anything you have on hand that you like can work!

22+ Ways We Enjoy Avocado Toast
1. Classic Mashed Avocado: Mashed avocado with a little salt and garlic powder on Dave’s Killer Bread is a staple. It’s simple and classic but always hits the spot.
2. Avocado & Red Pepper Flakes: We’ve found this to be perfect when we want a little kick. The heat pairs so well with the creamy avocado. Adding a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil takes it to the next level.
3. Everything Bagel Avocado Toast: One of our absolute favorites! The Everything Bagel seasoning just gives it a savory, crunchy twist. Sometimes we’ll use an Everything Bagel itself, double the flavor, double the fun.
4. Hemp Seeds & Lemon: Adding a tablespoon of hemp seeds provides a protein boost, and a squeeze of lemon juice brightens it up.
5. Avocado & Feta Cheese (Vegan) : We enjoy it with Violife Feta Cheese. Spread the feta cheese on bread and too with sliced avocado.
We’ve tried it with different vegan cheeses, like Chao and Better Goods vegan cheese from Target, but the original flavor is our favorite. Which we also like, the shreds are great!
Tossing some pumpkin seeds on top adds extra crunch.
6. Garlic Powder & Tomato Slices: Nothing beats the combination of garlic and tomato with creamy avocado on a fresh slice of bread.
7. Chili Flakes & Lime Juice: When we want it zesty, we add lime juice and chili flakes. It’s like giving our taste buds a little wake-up call.
8. Pistachios & Vegan Pesto: A more gourmet twist we’ve come to love. Pistachios may be on the pricier side, but it’s totally worth it for that nutty crunch.
9. Almond Butter & Avocado Mash: Mixing almond butter into mashed avocado sounds odd at first, but trust us, it’s a game changer.
10. Hot Sauce & Nutritional Yeast: Perfect for when we’re in the mood for something savory and cheesy-tasting without actual cheese.
11. Balsamic Glaze & Walnuts: A little sweetness and some extra crunch from walnuts balance the creaminess of the avocado perfectly.
12. Radish & Black Sesame Seeds: Adds a bit of crunch and a subtle peppery flavor.
13. Sliced Banana & Chia Seeds: We were skeptical at first but tried it on a whim, and it turned out to be a delightful sweet-savory combo.
14. Avocado & Pumpkin Seed Butter: If you haven’t tried it yet, consider adding a thin layer of pumpkin seed butter before spreading the mashed avocado—it’s like fall on a piece of toast.
15. Sriracha & Scallions: When hubby’s craving something spicy, we add a drizzle of sriracha and chopped scallions for an extra punch. Just kidding, we’ve seen this kind of toast a restaurant but not our jam!
16. Cucumber Slices & Smoked Paprika: This one is refreshing, especially in the summer. The smoked paprika adds depth.
17. Avocado Hummus Toast and Sauces: We’ve experimented with various hummus’ and like it and also like toast withe nut-based ones from Bitchin’ Sauce are among our top picks. They have a ton of flavors!
18. Fresh Basil & Nutritional Yeast: When we have fresh herbs in the house, we add basil. The nutritional yeast gives a cheesy, nutty flavor without any dairy. We love nutritional yeast!
19. Toasted Sesame & Ginger Powder: For an Asian-inspired version, we add a sprinkle of ginger powder and toasted sesame seeds.
20. Peanut butter & Cacao Nibs: For those days when we’re feeling a bit adventurous, we add cacao nibs. It’s surprisingly good with a little almond butter.
